Paul McCartney delivered one of his most unguarded interviews in years on Amy Poehler’s podcast, Good Hang. The hour-plus conversation covered The Beatles, modern music, and personal memories. McCartney became emotional recalling his late wife Linda, describing her gentle bond with animals. He called himself a growing Beatles fan, saying he feels “really lucky” to have written with John Lennon. On modern music, he praised Billie Eilish but noted many songs today are “very banal.” He also expressed concern about his portrayal in Sam Mendes’ upcoming Beatles biopics, texting Mendes directly about actor Paul Mescal’s height. McCartney’s daughter Stella also appeared, offering a rare glimpse into their relationship. His favorite song he’s written? “Here, There and Everywhere.” Story URL

Al Jardine says the Beach Boys name will live on, even as co-founder Mike Love battles serious health issues. Love recently returned to the stage at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium but appeared visibly frail, only managing backing vocals. Jardine called the sight “shocking” and admitted it left him “really depressed.” Despite a long-standing feud over the group’s name, Jardine expressed concern for his former bandmate. “He’s probably trying to pass the torch,” Jardine speculated, “maybe to his son.” On the same night Love performed in Nashville, Jardine reunited with Bruce Johnston and David Marks in Southern California. He said he’d be “honored” to carry the Beach Boys legacy forward, but acknowledged: “I don’t know if I can get my buddies to come out at every show.” Story URL
