A first of its kind air monitoring study will be taking place in Pennsylvania after an agreement between the state and a natural gas company to increase transparency.
The state and CNX Resources Corporation will be conducting a study on unconventional gas wells.
CNX will provide the DEP access to the wells for an in-depth, independent monitoring of the air emissions before, during, and after development of a new well.
Currently, 18 natural gas well pads and compressor stations are monitored and growing.
The study began yesterday and is expected to be completed in 2029.
