The private investigator that offered a $100,000 reward for the remains of Cherrie Mahan claims he has identified a man that’s alleged to have been involved with the kidnapping.
P.I. Steve Ridge claims a credible witness accused 64-year-old William Montgomery of Arnold as being involved in the 1985 kidnapping in Cabot.
Montgomery was recently released from prison on unrelated charges. When speaking on the phone with Ridge, Montgomery denied any involvement in the disappearance but claimed to know family members that were involved. But Montgomery has now become elusive and will not share further information.
The alleged witness that has accused Montgomery of being involved has said they would testify to a grand jury.
Montgomery was convicted of indecent assault in 1993, incest and sexual assault in 2004, and corruption of minors in 2014. He was recently released after completing four and half years for failing to register with State Police as a sex offender.
