State Police have released more information on a two-vehicle fatal crash that also sent one person to a Pittsburgh hospital this morning in Oakland Township.
The two-vehicle accident happened around 6 a.m. in the 800 block of Chicora Road—about a quarter-of-a-mile west of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
23-year-old Tanner Geibel of Butler was killed after he failed to properly negotiate a right curve and crashed head on into a vehicle driven by 55-year-old Tracy Hesidence of Karns City. Geibel was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Hesidence suffered serious injuries in the crash, a medical helicopter was called to the former Oakland Elementary School and flew Hesidence to Allegheny General Hospital. Her current condition is not known.
A portion of Chicora Road was shut down for around two hours.
