Crews responded to Cleveland Cliffs for chemical leak earlier this morning.
The call came into the Butler County 911 Center around 6:30 a.m.
According to Cliffs officials, the leak happened in one of the process tanks within the internal containment area at the facility.
While an initial call to the dispatchers said an acid leak potentially went into the Connoquenessing Creek, Cliffs officials say it was contained to the facility.
The county’s HAZMAT team was called, along with local fire departments.
Officials say cleanup efforts are underway.
