Gas prices continue to edge downward both locally as well as across the western Pennsylvania region as a whole over the past week.
According to AAA’s weekly gas price report, the average price for a gallon of regular, unleaded, self-serve gas in Butler, as of yesterday, decreased by three cents to reach $4.37 per gallon.
The average gas price across western Pennsylvania as a whole dropped by a dime to reach $4.23. The most affordable average price for gas in the area can be found in Sharon at $3.76, while the most expensive is in Beaver at $4.59.
The average national gas price dropped by six cents over the past week to $3.86 which is 53 cents less than a month ago but 58 cents more than a year ago. Although gasoline demand decreased over the last week, what is expected to be a record number of holiday travelers could reverse that trend. The price of oil fell to about $70 a barrel as the U.S. and Iran work toward a long-term deal.
