A Butler City man is facing charges after police discovered a dead man in his trash can.
According to Butler City Police, officers visited an apartment building in the 200 block of North Main Street on Monday for a welfare check.
The resident, 64-year-old Cavell Watkins, allowed police access to the apartment where officers found the body of an unnamed man who had been dead for several days.
Watkins told police that the man likely died as a result of a drug overdose, and he also admitted to putting him into the trash can.
Watkins has been charged with Felony Delivery of Narcotics as well as Misdemeanor Abuse of a Corpse. He was booked into the Butler County Prison as this active investigation continues.
