As lawmakers were finishing the budget they also passed a bill that would protect Pennsylvania’s Intermediate Unit (IU).
IU’s provide a more specialized education, that can range from special needs to hearing or vision impaired students.
House Bill 1502, would amend grant funding for pre-k students to attend these schools if the federal government were to cut grant funding.
The bill received bipartisan support in the house and senate and has been signed into law by Governor Josh Shapiro.
