The Pennsylvania Independent Fiscal Office has released a study on a proposed bill that would provide healthcare for all Pennsylvanians.
Lawmakers in the state house have proposed a bill which would provide healthcare for all state residents. The bill’s memo argues that increased premium costs are pushing people to leave the state.
The proposed bill would create two new taxes, the first would be a 7.5 percent on employers and another 2.5 percent on employees. The estimated revenue it would bring in according to the IFO is between $68.2 and $69.4 billion.
Current estimates have spending by all Pennsylvania’s on healthcare between $53.4 to $59.2 billion. But, this does not provide coverage to all Pennsylvanian’s just the ones that register for healthcare.
