A heatwave is going to impact the area starting today.
Temperatures are expected to reach the mid-to-upper 90s this week, with high humidity pushing the heat index into the 100s.
The heat advisory is set to run through Friday evening.
The Red Cross says it’s important to know the warning signs of heat illness, including heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and a high body temperature. All these symptoms can lead to heat strokes and other possibly fatal heat illnesses.
The Red Cross recommends staying inside an air-conditioned building and drinking water every 20 minutes. They are also asking to check on others during the heatwave.
