As the stretch of hot weather continues, local police are reminding drivers about the dangers of leaving kids and pets inside vehicles.
Temperatures inside a vehicle can quickly heat up 20 degrees in 10 minutes, even if a window is cracked.
Children are especially susceptible to heat related illnesses, as their body temperature can rise three to five times faster than an adult. Last year, 31 children died in the U.S. from heat stroke in hot cars.
If you see a child or pet inside a hot vehicle, immediately call 911.
