A new Supreme Court ruling has redefined how long after Election Day a mail ballot can be received.
Yesterday, the Supreme Court upheld a Mississippi law that allowed the state to count mail-in ballots received up to five days after the election, if post marked by election day.
In the 5-4 ruling, the court said “nothing in the federal election-day statutes requires ballots to be received by election day.”
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court had previously ruled ballots must arrive by 8 pm on election day.
